On the night of His betrayal, just after instituting what we commonly call The Lord's Supper, Jesus took His disciples out to the Mount of Olives and into the Garden of Gethsemane. He left 8 of them at the entrance of the garden, took Peter, James and John a little further and instructed them to "Watch and Pray." Then Jesus went a lettle further, fell on His knees and began to pray in intense agony. 

The word Gethsemane means "Oil Press", a place of extreme pressure where olives were put in a press and squeezed until all the oil was extracted. So Gethsemane was a critical moment in the life of Jesus and also in the lives of the disciples.

In that moment of crises Jesus instructed to "watch." Of course they did not need to watch out for Him, because He came to earth for this very purpose. He said in John 10:17-18  "I  lay down My life that I may take it again.  "No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again."  He also said in Matthew 26:53  "Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?" He neede no one to protect him. He had all power both in heaven on earth. 

Who then are they to watch and pray for? It was for themselves because look what He says next, Matthew 26:41  "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation."   Jesus knew hat when He was arrested and taken away, His disciples would be tempted. Some to desert Him, other to denia Him, and still others to try to defend HIm. In the next day or two all of these things came to pass.

Today we are living in another Gethsemane hour; a time of intense pressure. The world is fallling apart all around us. The Name of our Lord is being blasphemed, His followers are being margenalized, falsely accused, beheaded, burned alive and crucified.

Our own country is being hijacked by ungodly pseudo-intellectual elitists who agenda is to destroy anything and everything that has made this country great. NOW IS THE TIME THAT EVERY CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO BE "WATCHING AND PRAYING." But, like the disciples most of the church is fast asleep and totally unaware of the impending danger.

Romans 13:11-12  "...now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.  12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. "
